Evening Racing, Epsom Downs

Brief

Our role was to take the resource hungry administrative responsibility from the client for organising an informal racing evening to entertain a select group of clients – with add-ons to differentiate it from a standard evening race meeting.

Solution

Many racecourses run evening race meetings and they work well (although in our opinion are often limited in the choice of packages on offer).

Key to the evening’s success was to ensure a good location for the private hospitality box, to know about the unadvertised extras to add to the fun of the evening and to get the travel arrangements right.

Add to that a good knowledge of Epsom racecourse and a personal friend in racehorse trainer Simon Dow, and we were able to organise a much more individual and special event not available through regular channels. The evening included a unique conducted tour of the trainer’s yard while drinking champagne, chatting to the jockeys and stable hands, meeting the horses, getting inside tips and an insight into the world of horseracing.

This project was all about informality and fun. This was not a night at the opera – this was Epsom Downs with Status Quo. And the clients loved it.

Result

The added value Events Plus’ inside knowledge brought to this event made it a great night instead of a good one and left the hosts free to enjoy the evening (not to mention play air guitar with their clients while watching Status Quo …).

Events Plus chose the venue and organised everything for our race day. It was a huge success and our clients noticed and commented on all the extra details. We will definitely be using Events Plus again.
